On a sunny hill called Mount Olive, a grasshopper named Hopsalot loved to teach the other grasshoppers. He showed them how to listen to the wind, jump really high, and help each other. For 40 days, they learned all sorts of things about being kind and strong.
One day, Hopsalot gathered everyone and said, “I’ve got one more thing to show you. I’m going to take the biggest jump ever!”
“Why?” the little grasshoppers asked. “Aren’t you staying with us?”
Hopsalot smiled. “I’ve taught you everything you need. Now it’s your turn to help others and keep jumping. And don’t worry—I’ll still be with you, even if you can’t see me.”
Then Hopsalot crouched down, pushed off the ground, and leapt higher than any grasshopper had ever jumped. The others watched as he disappeared into the sky.
At first, they were quiet. Then one of them said, “I think he left us the sky…. should we try?”
Great parable
